The first MDK title was produced in-house at Shiny Entertainment. However, the group that developed the title has since left Shiny to form Planet Moon, which is soon to produce the rather brilliant-looking PC (and Dreamcast, allegedly) title called Giants. Rather than can the MDK franchise entirely, Interplay has drafted BioWare to produce the sequel, which features the same cast of heroes as the previous title: Kurt Hectic and his chums, Dr Fluke Hawkins and Max the robotic dog. MDK 2 will also feature the same third-person perspective as before, and will combine stealth and aggression in copious doses throughout the game's eight levels.
BioWare is using its Omen Engine to construct the title, and according to the developer, its technology will enable it to create realistic, lifelike characters that will interact with the player character in an intelligent manner.
